The perfect proposal - Rome's Trevi Fountain flows again!

Rome's famous Trevi Fountain's restoration is finally complete and lends itself to the perfect location to propose!

If you haven't been to Italy then I encourage you to put it on your travel wish list! Amazing scenery, incredible food, chic people watching, an abundance of history - there are so many beautiful places to explore and backdrops to admire. It makes the perfect place to propose!

While there are so many towns and cities just waiting to be explored in Italy, our attention today falls to the Capital, Rome or Roma as the locals say. With plenty of iconic and romantic sights to be seen, you can't fail to find somewhere stunning to pop that all important question!

The Lonely Planet describes it as 'A heady mix of haunting sights, awe-inspiring art and vibrant street life, Italy's Eternal City is one of the world's most beautiful and inspiring capitals.'

The Vatican Rome proposal

The Vatican by day and night is truly magical and the Castel Sant'Angelo is a fab spot to grab a coffee and admire the view from the turrets. The Colosseum is a magnificent piece of architecture - truly impressive, it easily captures the imagination and takes you back to Roman days.

Two popular locations to propose are the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. Fendi fashion house recently funded the 2.2 Million Euro restoration of the Trevi Fountain. Taking 17 months to complete, water finally began to flow again just last week. Read The Telegraph's full article here. Legend has it that if you toss a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, a return visit is guaranteed. Sounds good to me!

Alternatively, if somewhere off the beaten track is more your style then I suggest you read Dan Brown's Angels and Demons - a great way to spend your time in Rome retracing Robert and Vittoria's footsteps and discovering hidden gems along the way - you heard it here first!

We love Italy so much we've named some of our engagement rings after proposal and honeymoon hotspots, Rome, Florence, Sienna and Amalfi.

I know what my answer would be!! Enjoy your adventures in Rome and if you have any proposal stories to share, I'm keen to hear them!!
