We take a look at our favourite red carpet fashions and the stunning jewellery on display at the Oscars 2016!
Sunday night saw The 88th Academy Awards – The Oscars – the Holy Grail of awards ceremonies celebrated at the Dolby Theatre in LA, in all it’s glory!
I watched the red carpet action until my eyes could stay open no longer (annoying time difference!) and loved seeing all the incredible fashion and more importantly for me, the diamonds on display!
Before I delve into the apparel, I must congratulate Leonardo DiCaprio - not only has he FINALLY won Best Actor for his role in Revenant but he made an impressive speech (worth a watch!!) and has given us incredible memes to enjoy!
OK back to business! My favourite look of the night goes to Naomi Watts – what an incredible ensemble! Glittering in her sparkling, shimmering, mermaid-esque blue and purple toned column dress by Armani Prive, this was such a good look! Rumour has it she let husband Liev Schriber choose her dress – give that man a round of applause! Naomi complimented her dress with a decorative statement diamond necklace – absolutely stunning!
Next to impress are these pastel goddesses! Cate Blanchett also in Armani Prive with Tiffany jewels. This textured flirty and fabulous sea foam green dress is so elegant and fun!
Pregnant in Prada, could Emily Blunt be the prettiest and most effortless expectant lady ever! This pale pink is such a great colour for her English rose complexion.
Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress Alicia Vikander drew compaisons to Beauty and the Beast’s Belle in her Louis Vuitton yellow creation but we love it!
Rooney Mara has received rave reviews for her delicate and intricate Givenchy Haute Couture dress complimented with Fred Leighton Jewellery.
Lady in Red Charlize Theron got temperatures racing in this plunging Dior Haute Couture gown. Drawing attention to her décolletage with Harry Winston diamonds, she oozed glamour on the red carpet.
Another close favourite look of the night goes to presenter Jennifer Garner. In true old Hollywood style, Jennifer hit a high note with this black one shoulder Versace gown. The straight cut edge, the flowing train, the one shoulder detail with a hint of sparkle and ruffle – it made for a perfectly balanced dress and her usual youthful fresh glow shone through. Accessorised with diamond bracelets and diamond earrings by Neil Lane, a winning look!
Bringing the cool factor to the red carpet, Saoirse Ronan gave a nod to her Irish roots in this amazing emerald green Calvin Klein Collection dress. Even cooler, her mis-matching Chopard earrings featuring diamonds, emeralds, pearls and jadeites set in 18ct White Gold!
One earring alone featured 18.28 carats of emeralds and 5.74 carats of jadeites! Nominated for Brooklyn, she added even more sparkle with a diamond and emerald ring featuring 4.19 carats of emeralds and 3.06 carats of diamonds! We’ve seen mis-matched earrings before but this takes it to a new level. Needless to say, there’s no need to guess who my #girlcrushwednesday will be this week!!
