Incredible blue diamond is set to be auctioned at Sotheby's Hong Kong with a guide price of £25 million!
A fabulous diamond which raiders tried to grab at a heist at London’s Millennium Dome (now the O2 Arena) is set to be sold for £25 million.
Yes move over Josephine, the De Beers Millennium Jewel 4 is the largest oval vivid blue diamond to appear at auction. Weighing 10.10 carat and internally flawless, it is truly stunning.
It was put on show in 2000 as part of an exhibition at the Millennium Dome and caught the eye of a London gang who thought they could pull off the biggest diamond robbery in history. But their daring raid was foiled by the police who replaced the diamond with a fake and waited so they could catch the thieves in the act. Hurrah!
It’s current owner, an Asian collector, has decided to sell it at Sotheby’s Hong Kong spring sale on the 5th April with an estimated sale price of £25 million, making it one of the most expensive diamonds sold publicly.
